Suffering from fatigue, brain fog or sluggishness?

You could be suffering from...

too many carbs but not enough of anything else

Or

Too little carbs and a balanced amount of everything else.

While there could also be an array of other reasons and combining factors, for the sake of this post let’s talk about the above.

Ive felt first hand the negative effects of both…..

Let’s take a trip down memory lane.

Early 20s working as an apprentice builder.

I was waking up feeling worse than when I went to sleep, I was falling asleep the moment I got home from work, I was fatigued, short and often grumpy.

I think I often skipped breakfasts, smokos were full of quick processed foods and V, lunch was a fresh loaf of bread from the bakery filled with hot chips and dinner probably got skipped because I was already asleep but if I managed to get some it would have been a tiny salad, potatoes and a touch of meat.

Too many complex carbs, refined sugar and no micronutrients, not to mention f*ck all protein.

Cue my fatigue, mood swings, grumpiness and brain fog.

Now flash forward to dieting for comps near the final stages.

Energy starts dropping in the arvo, Im going to bed early, I have less patience, my legs often feel heavy, my cognitive function is limited to small stints.

My horses and passions outside of competing had to take a backseat - I just didn’t have the space/energy for them

I was fuelled by heaps of protein, moderate fats, lots of fibre and micronutrients but carbs were getting low, they had to for the goal I was chasing.

Now while this scenario was a knowledgable, educated, planned choice I made in order to get my body f*cking lean and something I am so proud of, the point to this is low carbs for most people will cause these types of effects.

But just like the first story, high carbs without anything else will also have a negative effect to your life.

So the moral of this post is, invest into some education around a balance of macros that work for you. Work with a coach like myself who educates you about nutrition, who helps empower you around your food choices and helps enable you to live a more fulfilling life full of energy and confidence. Because food choices have so much more of an effect on your life than most people truely realise.
