When there were over 2000 images taken, just over 1000 making the cut and a variety of looks, it has been extremely difficult to nail down to a number appropriate to include in this blog. I have done my best, let's start with some standouts and read along for a little story telling.
I am not entirely sure how I stumbled upon Bridie's instagram account and business BRV creative, I would put it down to fate, the universe guiding me towards what was aligned with me. I believe in that shit, it’s real to all that take the time to listen to the calls or the pulls that tap at your heart.
An equine photographer who I was instantly drawn to, again I couldn’t tell you exactly what the draw card was, just a sense of knowing.
We got chatting pretty quickly on a phone call for like 30mins! And If you know me, you’ll know how much I avoid phone convos, the anxiety I get from picking up the phone. This was big.
Bridie’s drive to nail down exactly what I wanted captured in our evening and morning shoots, was nothing short of amazing. Her ability to pick up on “ME” who I was and what I portray to the world was spot on, proud moment for me too, to gain the feedback that I have been expressing myself authentically.
Pen to paper once she arrived, to plan in more detail with what outfits for what location, old school planning I like that.
The first look was an outfit from Country and Me, a new rural clothing brand founded and created by Miki Coulston.
The dogs of course featured a lot.
I mean who doesn’t love chopping wood. You’d be this happy chopping wood in this outfit too.
Another act of pure alignment from the universe here, this colour couldn’t have worked more perfect with this backdrop.
Then it was time to ride out to the beach. Bridie got the honour of riding Ru, I say honour because a couple of months back I decided I needed to be selective of who rode her, she's a special little mare who is very in tune with the energy of the humans and world around her.
How good is life when you can mix your job and your passion. Riding horses and taking photos.
Amongst scenery like this….
While time wasn’t exactly on our side, the sun was setting fast. The ride out to the beach took a little longer than expected due to my decision to detour and Bridie’s ability to see epic photo opportunities from backdrops I see everyday and think nothing of. Never the less we made it to the beach just in time to capture some beauty, laugh and play and fulfil a life long dream under the light of the setting sun. My life long dream fulfilled deserves a post of its own, so stay tuned for that.
My mares did me nothing but proud.
Both so connected to the shoot that anytime they were left out of the photo and asked to hang in the background, they would inch in, in-front of the camera.
A 50min ride home in the dark with no headlight and the absence of the moon was bliss. Ziggy lead the way providing a bit of a glow light for Bridie, I couldn’t get over how intense the peace was during the darkness but my squeaky saddle that Ru had on was all Bridie could hear.
Some iphone stills for perspective.
Words cannot describe the emotions I felt after my dream ride on the beach that night, it made sleeping very difficult and with an early start to catch the morning light for more photos it wasn’t ideal.
Can you believe I literally woke up, took 5mins on my hair and face, chucked on an outfit and posed confidently in front of the camera?!
Old me is shell shocked.
Old me had never done a photo shoot prior to this without hair and makeup done.
Yet evolved me, couldn’t have felt more beautiful on this foggy morning, fresh faced and straight out of bed. The internal work you do on yourself, has far more powerful effects than anything you can do externally.
I knew this old wool-shed had potential but I really under estimated just how much. Bridie's natural eye for seeing beauty beyond the levels of most people's awareness, helped produced these stunning images.
The boyfriend's shirt got put to good use for the next "look"
From the horse photos we captured at home, it's bloody tough to pick a few to feature, there are so many that show the special bond I have with each of them. And when I say so many, I am talking hundreds not just a dozen or so.
Finished the morning with training photos because after all that is a huge part of my life, the part that helps keep me strong and conditioned.
Everything about this shoot was a vibe, the outfits, the experiences, the photographer, the images, the emotions and even the weather.
I cannot wait to work with Bridie again. We have an epic collab in the works too, so you'll have a chance to experience her energy yourself.
I leave this blog with what I think is some pretty magazine worthy images featuring Stoney Creek
You look absolutely amazing!
